How to Select and Apply Word Document Templates on Windows

Microsoft Word offers an array of templates which can be applied easily. Templates refer to pre-made documents wherein consumers can add their own data rather than having to design the layout on their own. Using templates helps users save a lot of time and energy. Steps to select templates on Windows
  1. Launch Microsoft Word on your computer.
  2. Look for the templates in the home page.
  3. Ensure that the computer is connected to the internet.
  4. Choose the template you wish to use.
  5. Click on it.
  6. Now, hit the Create button.
  7. Edit it as per your preference. You can change the text, font size, and colour.
  8. After making all the changes, hit the File button in the top left-hand corner of the screen.
  9. Select Save As.
  10. Key in the name of the document.
  11. Click on the Save button.
Apply a Template to an older Word Document on Windows
  1. Locate the document on your computer.
  2. Double-click on the file.
  3. When the document opens, click on the File tab located in the top left-hand corner of the screen.
  4. Scroll down and click on File from the left pane.
  5. Again from the left pane in the Word Options screen, click on Add-ins.
  6. Now, click on the pull-down menu next to Manage.
  7. Select Templates from the list of options.
  8. Hit the Go button located at the bottom right corner of the screen.
  9. Now, press the Attach button in the top right-hand corner of the screen.
  10. Choose a template according to your preference.
  11. Hit the Open button located at the lower right corner of the prompt.
  12. Now, just click on the square next to automatically update document styles. This option will be located under the template name.
  13. Hit the Ok button located at the lower right corner of the screen.
  14. Click on the File tab located at the top left corner of the window.
  15. Now, from the left pane, select the option called Save As.
  16. Select the location for saving the document.
  17. Input the name.
  18. Hit the Save button.
