Google Rolls Out Smart Reply Feature for Hangouts

Google recently rolled out a new feature for its popular messaging services Hangouts. This feature, dubbed Smart Reply will help people save time. The company said that they are delivering this new feature to Google Hangouts so that the users can reply to others promptly and carry forth with their tasks with increased efficiency, in lesser time. This new update is a component of Google’s continuous struggle to bring smart, assistive writing tools to the complete G Suite.

The newly added function is, at present, available in the English language. It utilizes advanced ML intelligence, quite comparable to the one for smart Reply in Gmail. The technology used by Google identifies the messages which need to be catered to on an urgent basis and suggests a maximum of three distinct responses. When the user taps or clicks on anyone, then they can send it promptly or make some changes to the text. However, this feature is available just in English, as of now.

Google released Hangouts as a free IM service, five years ago. Over time, the company molded it for companies when Google extended enterprise sales attempts and attempted to deliver to the consumers several of the same features that it uses privately.

In recent times, rumors were floating around that Google will be killing Hangouts for consumers in 2020. But, the company has rejected such claims and does not plan on shutting down the instant messaging service.

Hangouts Chat rose in 2017 in the wake of the company announcing that it was dividing Hangouts into different services: Hangouts Chat and Hangouts Meet. The basic Hangouts version is available for consumers.
