Click the Apple logo from the top left of the screen.

Select Software Update from the menu.

A popup box will appear on the screen checking the new software.

Click Quit tab if a message pop up saying Your Software is up to
date.

In the availability software updates, a Software Update box will
appear with three options-
a) Show
Details
b) Not Now
c) Continue
Click Show Details tab to view what updates are about to download
in the system for different programs.
It will open all the updates that will get installed. You can make
a selection of the updates for programs.
Uncheck the boxes of those you don’t want to install in your Mac.
Click the Install tab to begin the updating process.
The system will show the counting of selected programs, and it
will begin the installation.

Configure

You can set the programs and your system to receive updates automatically
by configuring the system. It is another way to get Software Updates. So let’s
see how to configure Software Update for Mac.

Click the Apple icon from the top left of the screen.

Now, go to System Preferences and click to open it.
3.
Navigate to Software Update in System Preferences window.

Open Software Update program.

Now, two options- Scheduled Check and Installed Software will be
displayed.

Click on the Schedule Check tab.

The Check Now option will let you search for new updates.

Click the Check for updates box to specify the time and routine to
check for updates automatically.
9.
Check the Download updates automatically box. The option will
notify you when the updates are ready to download.

From now on, you don’t have to check again and again for the
updates in your Mac, as the configuration is set on automatic mode.

In the same Software Update box, click the Installed Software tab.
12. Now, it
will show you all the installed software in your Mac.
While viewing the installed software, you might notice a single
program or application twice in the list. It happens because the list is
displaying different updates for the same application but their version number
differing. The process of Software Update is completed now. If you want to
disable the automatic download, then uncheck Download updates automatically in
Scheduled Check tab.
